Rochester Preschool is an Ofsted registered Preschool based in Rochester, Kent.

We have a large secure outside play area offering a variety of activities for high quality play opportunities, including a Mud kitchen Area.

We understand the high importance of language within early years, which is why we have our own room dedicated to our Preschool Library.

Children participate in local walks to explore our community and environment.

At Rochester Preschool, our mission is to provide a stimulating and safe environment to support children in all areas of their learning and development. We aim for all children to become confident, capable, independent individuals.

‘Enabling environments’ is one of the guiding principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in England. It represents how we now approach physical early learning spaces as becoming another teacher. They should support each child across the seven areas of learning and development.

Our Pedagogy – Helping Children to learn

We will provide a mixture of different approaches to support children’s progress in their learning and development. All of our teaching will be through play by adult modelling, observing peers and through guided learning and direct teaching.

We provide a balance between adult led and child initiated activities. Adult led activities will have a clear intention of what practitioners intend to teach the child. We will ensure that all children are given the same opportunities, which will include introducing them to new ideas and experiences. Our intentions are to create curious and explorative learners. Child initiated play will be carefully scaffolded and modelled by practitioners within the setting to support the child.

Hi, I’m Rachael. I have worked in childcare for over 15years. I have a degree in Early Years with Early Years Professional Status. I operate an open door policy at the setting, where parents, staff and children are welcomed to share their views..

My name is Terri

I am the preschool manager. I have worked in early years for around 19 years. I have a BA Honours in Childhood Studies and Early Years Teacher Status. I enjoy being part of magical moments within a child’s journey and supporting both children and their families. During my spare time, I love spending time with my family. I enjoy crafts and a good book.

My name is Becky

I am the Deputy Manager. I hold a Level 4 in Childcare and have worked with children for around 22 years. I also have a NCFE Cache Level 3 Award for Special Educational Needs coordinator in Early Years Settings. In my spare time, I love shopping and walking my dog.

Hello My name is Lisa.

I am a level 2 Practitioner. I have worked at Rochester Preschool since it opened. I am a mum myself and enjoy working with early years children. My hobbies are reading and baking.

My name is Carly.

I have worked in childcare for 18 years. I have a level 3 in Early Years and I am currently working towards level 5. I have worked at Rochester Preschool for over two years. I enjoy forming bonds with the children and their families to enable the children to achieve their personal bests.

I hold a NVQ level 3 in Early Years. I have been working in Childcare since 2015. I enjoy working with children and helping them achieve their milestones. In my spare time I enjoy playing sports, spending time in nature and going for long walks.
