What I will need for Preschool……………………

A healthy packed lunch if I am staying to eat with my friends (Please note we are a nut free zone due to allergies and we promote healthy eating with the children-please no sweets. Please ensure grapes are quartered before putting them into your child’s lunch box due to them being a choking hazard.

All snacks will be provided

A drinks bottle with water inside … my teacher will help me to refill it with more water if I am extra thirsty!

A pair of wellington boots for me to explore outside (these can be stored at preschool) and a change of clothes in case I get very messy when playing! Please provide all nappies/ pull ups/ wipes if applicable in a clearly labeled bag.

Appropriate clothing for the weather conditions:

Winter: Warm Coat/ Hat/ Gloves for outside play!

Summer: Jacket/Sunhat/ Suncream

I need to make sure my name is labelled in everything so I don’t mix my things up with my friends!
When I come to preschool, I will find my name to let everyone know I am here and hang my things on a spare peg

What is a Key Person?

The statutory framework for the revised Early Years Foundation Stage (2021) sets the standards for the learning, development and care for children from birth to age 5. It is under this, that as a safeguarding and welfare requirement all children must have a Key Person within the setting who will be the point of contact for them and their family.

At Rochester Preschool we will inform you who your child’s key person is and the role they will play in your child’s journey through preschool. The person will help ensure that your child’s learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs. They will also seek to engage and support you in guiding your child’s development at home.

They will also support you with more specialist support if needed in order to support your child. Main duties of a Key Person

To provide for the emotional needs of the child, to comfort and reassure

To care for the child

To contribute to and ensure that our provision respects each child’s culture, religion, language and family values

To liaise with parents/ carers

To observe the child’s progress and with parents/ carers permission, keep records of their child’s interests and development throughout their personal learning journey

To have regular parent/carer meetings to discuss the progress your child is making

To liaise with parents/ carers and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator if there are any concerns and work together to implement targets within an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
